OK I adored this episode. Nick and Kelly were great together!I was irked that no one else clued in that Xander wasn't himself. I mean, hello? Khakis. But what I loved best was that this wasn't an evil twin or demon doppelganger. Suave Xander was Xander. I'm really hopeful that this will lead to a stronger and happier Xander for the remainder of the season. And regarding Riley's final comment and Xander's reaction to it...is anyone else thinking that B/X could make a comeback this season? IP: Logged |

Glad you asked. The Replacement was a classic episode in Buffy. Nicky and Kelly were absolutely terrific together.I, like you, Kristen was glad to see that Kelly was not a "demon" but was the other part of Xander..the suave, brave, seductive part. (I can go on, you know..LOL) I can't beleive we got to see the infamous snoopy dance!! I was VERY happy of the outcome. I also was was very happy to see Kelly act more..he is very very talented. They're were both gorgeous and too bad they couldn't do more like this..but, Xander does need his "other" part. I loved it tremendously. IP: Logged |

I have a confession to make. When I heard that Kelly was going to guest star on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I thought, "Nepotism. There's no way he can actually act." Boy, was I wrong. Kelly did as wonderful a job playing suave Xander as Nicholas did playing ... not-suave Xander. *g* ... unless Kelly played not-suave and Nicholas played suave. Hee! Nah, I don't think so. And, by the way, whoever decided to put a rain-storm in that episode so not-suave Xander's clothes could get all clingy, THANK YOU! That boy's gotten some pecs on him.IP: Logged |

Yay! I loved this episode. Thank you for not being another "And Xander screws up AGAIN...." ep, but rather something that goes wrong because oh-my-goodness... Xander took a shot for Buffy. *g* No doubt the fact that Xander once again saved Buffy will be shuffled under the carpet in favor of Buffy/Riley ruckus. This ep was fantabulous. It had all the great elements of a classic Buffy ep... the wit, the humor, the seriousness... there were nods going as far back as Season 1 (I can still think of when people were lobbying to actually SEE Xander do the oft-mentioned Snoopy Dance which btw was unmistakeable and perfectly executed not to mention laugh-my-ass-off hilarious) as well as hints of the future to come. There couldn't have been a more perfect time to have a Xander identity episode. And it's ABOUT time! Giles and Xander were last season's butt-monkeys, with Spike coming in a close second. They just kind of hung out at the edges with nary a complaint, showed up, did a stellar job being the characters, said their lines, and went home. With little development. Booo. I liked the parallels made to the Slayer identity. I certainly hope Xander eventually realizes that it was HIS work at the construction site that was being credited, not the evil double's. He's actually good at stuff! He can be suave and charming, romantic, yadda yadda... I also liked the twist on the evil twin in that Xander's evil twin was suave, cool, and well-dressed. The distilled essence theme worked really nicely, plus I had too much fun watching Xander fall all over himself. Yay for Nick and the physical comedy, which I am certain is more difficult (and painful) than it looks. This is an ep that still has me thinking. *g* Bravo, bravo, bravo again. I do wonder if Nick did any of the suave twin scenes, though? When he wasn't trying to attack the evil "demon-bot?" *g* IP: Logged |

Double the Xander, double the fun!I too hope this leads to a stronger, more confident Xander, and thought they should've been able to tell which was which by the clothes. Teh khakis and the blue shirt! He actually looked preppy. I dread the Bronze. That last Riley comment makes me fear that the mad B/A 'shippers will be out in full force. *sigh* --devil IP: Logged |

Oooh. It's all snazzy!About the ep: Wheeeeeee! It was such a Xanderiffic episode and it was so great for Xander to see all those good parts of himself that often get overlooked. The scene with Willow was heartbreaking (well, and also hilarious, as you guys pointed out: the Snoopy dance was priceless). And when Xander said that Buffy was always saving him, I was yelling: But no! It's Xander who always saves Buffy! Cause it is! As DeMoriel pointed out. And Kelly did a fabulous job! At the end, both Xanders were just so spot on Xander! And yes, that does make sense.. at least in my own mind... Kristen: I second the wish for stronger, happier Xander. And B/X... hmmm... interesting possibility. They do have much in common. IP: Logged |

hey, Monique,! had to drive by- nick and kelly were great- those two took a dopplegang ep or however it's spelled and juiced it. and kristen, nick's reaction to the cowboy's last line? i don't know- but in terms of b/x meaningfulness, i hadn't seen anything like it since the sandbox scene in restless. big brother? xander is that and so much more to her- it's so hard to define a linchpin relationship in this show, but xander/buffy gets my vote, cause it's sneaky, and that's due to what nick gives to it. when nick reacts, we know xander knows, more that he probably even knows himself at that moment. which is why we love him so far, in three eps- everyone is older- acting more adult, as they should be. it's great. Vanessa, hey! minion reporting for duty and you're so right- there's one st. george on this show- albeit a conflicted, fashion challenged st. george, and xander/nick is it. totally looking forward to what happens to next. devil, hey! and that is all. hey everyone! Yes this eppy eas great! I loved it Nick and Kelly did a great job!Snooby dance I've been waiting for that forever! Now I'm so happy! On the B/X thing I'm a BIG B/X shipper and I saw something too but wasn't sure what. What do yall think it meant in B/X. cause I was really hoping for that but people on the bronze told me it was just shock. And also Xander practly took a bullet for buffy and once agian no one noticed! Xander is always saving buffy. He is once agian proving that he is and always will be buffy's white night! ANd I was almost in tear with that speach he gave willow! too sad! IP: Logged |

So so much fun to see Nick and Kelly acting together! What a wonderful ep and I love how much potential this gives Xander for the rest of the season. I just hope he takes some of what he learned to heart and is able to assert himself a little bit more in the future. What a great twist to have both of them be Xander!Wasn't there a broadway version of Charlie Brown? Does Snoopy do the Snoopy Dance in this production? 'Cause if so, forget Spiderman! IP: Logged |

hey all. howdy monique, how's it goin, girl?thus, "the replacement" hath rocked. i will have to avoid reading the iliad and watch it again. the message goes out to nick and kelly that they were both excellent. suave xander was very very...mmmm... okay, not going there, cause...mmm...whoops. i was so happy that kelly was going to finally appear on the show! i've been hoping to see a double-xander ep ever since i found out about this whole freaky twin thing. (i mean, you guys share the same DNA -- what's up with that??) finally, we got it, and it was just so damn enjoyable. bravo bravo to both brothers on a very excellent portrayal of two different versions of the same guy. and, i'm guessing it was nick who performed the snoopy dance... that was better than i could have ever imagined! i think we should see the snoopy dance again maybe this christmas. i think there should be a channel on cable...all snoopy dance all the time. okay, i'm exaggerating. anyhoo, this ep was *exactly* what we needed to redeem us from the lack of nick time last year. thanks nick, congrats on a rockin' ep, and i can't wait to see kelly in more, now. (dahling, i caught you on "undressed"...yum) now that i have succeeded in demeaning the male species to sex objects....buh bye. allison IP: Logged |

Jane and Nick, together at last! *g*I am #10 in the Xander Dance Club. I was at PBP98 when Nick got the plaque from the XDC. We were all praying for something, and it didn't happen then. In fact, we've been waiting for that thing for four years. SNOOPY DANCE!!! Hal-leh-LU-jah and HOT DAMN! Nick and Kelly did a fantastic job. It must have been a bit strange, like a replay of their younger days, having to fight and squabble and clown around like that. And a couple times it did get eerie, knowing it wasn't trick camera work. And the look on Nick's face in that final shot almost pushed me over the edge into crying. And I'm so jealous of Emma Caufield right now it's not funny. DL "I'm having an aggressively bad day." IP: Logged |

I loved the episode. Was anyone else like, which is Nic, which is Kelly? I could only tell when they were together, their voices are different, but when they are separated, boy is it different. They had a blast together. They totally had the "twin moment" of finishing each others sentence, I don't think that was planned, it just happened. This was a very funny episode and a high light of all the seasons. Now if they would only do a dramatic episode with Nic that would be great! I've lost my train of thought and in danger of rambling. I'm out Ciao Ms. Gwyn IP: Logged |

I love-Love-LOVED tonight's episode. To quote an Anne movie, I was thrilled to my fingertips! First off, Nick and Kelly rocked the Doppelganger world. Semi-quoting one of my fave cartoon shows, Recess, "I hoped that sounded as good as it did in my head." Kristen You read my mind! B/X! B/X! Five years I've been waiting...okay, not all of those five years, but enough non-sporadic moments for me to be doing my own personal Snoopy dance. I better stop now before I get *way* into it! Apologies for major other tv/movie references, my brain is not functionally well due to cold and happy delerium due to tonight's episode -Charity aka Taygeta IP: Logged |

I've said it before, and I'll say it again...whatever Tim Burton is working on next, Nick Brendon must audition for. The music in this ep was very Danny Elfman, and went so well with the scenes of "Bruce Campbell in Army of Darkness" Xander...okay, I don't want to see him go, but he really really needs to stretch out and get his ass into more films...remember Edward Scissorhands? Benny and Joon? Tell me he isn't the Johnny Depp of this generation! He has amazing comic timing, and does that self-depreciating slap-stick very well...there was a time when Spike was the only thing keeping me tied to BtVS, but Xander's performance last night definately brought my interest back....Enough gushing, I don't gush well... Oh, and Monique, I love the look of the new boards! IP: Logged |

Monique -- Love the site. Great job.As for the episode, I have a few problems with it. But Jane Espenson ROCKS so I'm sure on rewatching my concerns will be addressed. I did so love Nick and Kelly. (LOL at the Snoopy Dance. I can see why it made the opening credits, too.) Was Kelly playing SuaveXander throughout or was Nick playing both roles except for scenes in which the two characters were in the same shot? IP: Logged |

Leather Jacket, Narrator et al. Unfortunately, Kelly had fewer lines than you think. Both actors played both parts, with Nick getting most of the lines. According to Becker, Kelly got lines when the two were in the same frame, but otherwise we were watching Nick play both roles. Which is amazing to me, watching him go from one extreme to the other. He did a fabulous job.I loved the episode as a whole, although I thought they went a little too far with making suave Xander look evil. I've watched the ep three times now, and you can't look at suave Xander and think "oh yeah, I can see now how that was totally innocent and not evil at all", because he does come across as evil. Not that that's a bad thing - it was the return of Pack Xander! Whee! And snoopy dance! I think now that Xander has seen his good points spelled out so plainly to him, we're definitely going to be seeing a more confident Scooby. And not a moment too soon. We just won't go into the whimpering I did during that last R/X scene. IP: Logged |

Wow! Hard to believe I just upgraded the board yesterday with all these messages here already! BTW - is it easy to read like this, or should I show the messages in reverse order, like at the Bronze?Kristen: Agreed. Evil twin, evil doppleganger? Done. I like that they took a pretty unusual approach to the lookalike situation. I like that it was used to teach Xander just how valuable he is to the group. It's something I think he forgets - he spent much of the past year playing the boy in his parents' basement, and I like that he has a new place now. It's a good first step to becoming a man. And LOL at the khakis comment! That's so true. When the heck was the last time we saw him in khakis? I wonder if Suave Xander had to go buy those clothes special, or if Regular Xander just had them lying around. Question: Are we sure it was Kelly playing Suave Xander? I coulda sworn it was Nick doing both parts, except for when they were in the same shot together. Leather Jacket: LOL! Yeah. Working out looks good on Nicholas. cats: *tacklehugs* You made it! Hi sweeties!!! DeMoriel, devil: I have to admit I am a little sad to see Riley's one line get such a huge reaction on the Net. But people are paying Nicholas and Kelly the high praise I think they deserve, so I'm not too upset. *g* DeMoriel: I thought the same things... this had all those things that I loved about the first- and second-season episodes. It was a lot of fun, but there was also a point - it helped to propel the characters. Plus it was pretty evenly balanced with the characters - I didn't feel like people were there just to take up space and have an obligatory line as much as I have at other points the past couple seasons. Re: The Snoopy Dance: That was HILARIOUS! I was LMAO. I especially loved the sheer look of joy on Scrubby Xander's face while he was dancing around. It was hysterical, and I'm so glad we finally got to see it. LOL at your Broadway comment, Mesuvius! Vanessa: Yep! The board's prettier now. That's why it was down for awhile last night when you tried to reach it. Back in a bit...

Howdy all! Nick Brendon here. First of all, thanks so much for your support and enthusiasm. I agree. The episode was Xantastic! Truth be told, I played both characters. It was very challenging and rewarding and I must've done an OK job if you couldn't tell it was me. Glad you enjoyed the Snoopy Dance. Been perfecting it at home (makes my girlie go ga-ga.) I had a blast working with Kelly and he really deserves kudos for his work. He was never promised on-screen dialogue but they did end up using some and I think he did a stand-up job. In fact there was even one point where Kelly, Tressa and I had to rewind and freeze the tape to decipher who was who, (standing side by side, Kelly as "Cool Xander" did a stellar job of imitating my signature blinky eyes.) So very glad you guys enjoyed the show and can't thank you enough for your steadfast interest and support.Smoochies! P.S. What the heck is LOL and *g*? To be truly cool I GOTTA get w/ the lingo!!!
